SINGAPORE, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.8 percent or 26.1 points to close at 3,254.77.

A total of 1.48 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.08 billion Singapore dollars (about 791.83 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 256 to 130.

The STI index closed up 0.61 percent or 20.03 points to close at 3,280.87 on Tuesday. Enditem
