TOKYO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed Thursday morning ahead of the upcoming trade talks between the United States and China in Washington later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 99.29 points, or 0.46 percent, from Wednesday to 21,555.67.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 1.04 points, or 0.07 percent, at 1,580.66.

Marine transportation and retail issues led notable advancers, while insurance and construction issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
